Tuckpoint Lane
Consultation has concluded
The City is proposing to name the laneway between Anzac Road, and Loftus, Shakespeare, and Franklin Streets, in Leederville.
The proposed name (Tuckpoint Lane) acknowledges an architectural feature of brick facades which is prominent in surrounding properties.
Tuckpoint Lane satisfies Landgate’s criteria for a road name in that it:
- is a single name element followed by a road type;
- does not duplicate an existing road name within the local government area; and
- the name is not used in an existing street or place in WA.
Tuckpoint Lane does not satisfy the Landgate criteria in that it:
- is more than six letters long.
This does not disqualify the name from being considered by Landgate after community approval.
Tuckpoint Lane is considered pursuant to Criteria 5 of the City’s Road Naming Criteria – A culturally significant historic event, architectural style, artwork, waterway or other culturally iconic element connected with the area.
The applicant's proposal can be found in the Document Library.
A map outlining some examples of tuckpointing in the area can be found in the Photos section.
Where is the lane?
The lane identified for naming extends between Anzac Road and Franklin Street, parallel to Loftus and Shakespeare Streets, crossing Salisbury Street, in Leederville.
The lane consists of part of Lots 167 and 168 on Plan 2358.
About the process
This laneway proposal was submitted to the City of Vincent by a community member. If a consultation receives community consent, the City will submit a road naming application to Landgate. Landgate will then approve or deny the application. The City will send letters to nearby residents and owners in regards to the outcome of this consultation. An alternative name for this laneway must be submitted via the online application form before the consultation period for this proposal closes. If an alternative name is found to be suitable, a separate consultation for that proposal will be advertised.
