The City has conducted a review of its Mobile Food Vendor Policy and we would like to know what you think about our proposed changes.
Mobile Food Vendor Policy
The City's mobile food vendor policy, more commonly known as Vending Vincent, came into effect in 2016 following a successful 12 month trial. Mobile food vendors can apply for an annual permit to operate at designated locations within five of the City's parks - Braithwaite Park in Mt Hawthorn, Hyde Park in Perth, Britannia Reserve in Mt Hawthorn, Charles Veryard Reserve in North Perth and Banks Reserve in East Perth.
The policy allows for a maximum of 3 vendors to trade at a location at any one time and vendors are permitted to trade between 7am and 9pm, any day of the year.
Proposed changes
Our proposed changes to the Mobile Food Vendor Policy seek to improve waste management and reduce impact on our parks and other park users. The proposed changes relate to the following areas:
Vehicle management – as part of the application process, vendors must demonstrate safe entry and exit from the trading zones,
Waste management – vendors must provide three bins (general waste, recycling and FOGO) and all waste generated must be removed from the site by the vendor and not placed in council bins,
Single use plastics ban – all serving ware must be fully compostable and single use plastic limited to the sale of bottled drinks only,
In case of extenuating circumstances, the CEO may approve an alternative temporary trading location,
An amendment to the trading location in Britannia Reserve is proposed to increase visibility of the food trucks, and
Trading at Charles Veryard Reserve is proposed to cease on Sundays, to not interfere with the canteen sales of local clubs.
