The City of Vincent Library is updating its collection layout to make it easier for the community to find and borrow books.

Background

The City of Vincent library has almost 9,000 members who last year borrowed over 190,000 items.

The Library team regularly reviews the services offered and this information is used to improve the experience for users and to introduce new services that meet community needs.

Feedback from the Library Services 2024 survey included making it easier for people to browse and find the type of books they are interested in.

Project details

From March, the trial of a new genre-based layout will first be introduced in the Young Adult and Large Print sections, with plans to expand this new system throughout the entire library.

Arranging books by genre means members can quickly find stories they love, discover new authors and explore related books in a way that feels natural and inviting.

The new layout includes clearly labelled sections for popular topics such as mystery, science fiction, fantasy, romance, crime and more.

Library staff will be on hand to assist with the transition and answer any questions.

Community members are encouraged to share feedback as the library makes this transformation.
