We’re creating a Heritage Strategic Plan to celebrate and protect Vincent’s unique heritage, and your feedback will help shape it.
Background
We recently completed a review of Vincent's local heritage places, and the resulting documents were adopted by Council at its December 2025 meeting.
Now that an updated record of our heritage has been completed through the Thematic History and Local Heritage Survey, we can focus on how we support integrated, long term heritage management and improved community involvement.
The next step is to develop a Heritage Strategic Plan.
Project details
The Heritage Strategic Plan is a long‑term action plan which identifies what heritage we have, why it matters and how we can protect and celebrate it for future generations.
It will ensure that as an organisation, we can:
- Protect our heritage buildings and places through strong local policies
- Improve management of City-owned heritage assets
- Ensure compliance with the Heritage Act 2018 and State Planning Policy 3.5: Historic Heritage Conservation.
For our community we want to be able to:
- Support owners and community groups caring for heritage places
- Promote and celebrate Vincent’s heritage through education and events
- Strengthen local connections between heritage and history
- Engage community in heritage conservation.
We will be guided by the WA Local Government Association's 'Model Heritage Strategy for Local Governments' document, which is widely used across WA.
Everyone is welcome to provide feedback - heritage property owners, community groups, heritage professionals, state agencies and anyone interested in Vincent’s heritage.
