The City of Vincent amended it’s Built Form Policy to better align with the new State Planning Framework and improve development outcomes across the City.
Positive development outcomes are important to us, so in 2016 we created the Built Form Policy. The policy provides guidance to developers, planners and decision makers to ensure that all new development fits in the local neighbourhood and responds to Vincent's local identity.
The Policy has been around for a while now and we’ve had a good chance to use and test it. In 2019 the State Government released a new State Planning Policy, Design WA, to guide apartment development across Western Australia. This meant it was time for us to update our Policy to reflect our learnings from the past three years and align it to Design WA.
The changes to the Policy align with Design WA and also focus on improving requirements relating to landscaping, setbacks, building design and environmentally sustainable design.
To help you understand this amendment, we prepared an information sheet which was used to advertise the amendment, outlining the major changes relating to five key areas.
If you would like more information please email us at mail@vincent.wa.gov.au or phone Tim Elliott, Senior Strategic Planner in the Policy & Place team on 9273 6528.
