Background
As a result of feedback in 2022 on a proposed traffic calming measure at the intersection of Britannia Road and Matlock Street in Mt Hawthorn, we've made some changes, and are now seeking further comment on the updated design proposal.
Project Details
These changes primarily include safety features for cyclists and pedestrians, reflecting residents' concerns about vehicle speed along Britannia Road, as well as adding street trees to create improved visual appeal. The new proposal includes:
safer crossing environment for pedestrians
dedicated cycle lane - which will require the removal of parking bays along this section
installation of speed bumps along this section
Benefits
The City of Vincent believes these measures will have a positive impact on reducing the speed of motorists travelling along this section, as well as encouraging a safer environment for both pedestrians and cyclists. It will also improve the visual appeal through the addition of trees.
