Phase 2

Help finalise our Youth Action Plan

The City of Vincent, in partnership with the Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA), is developing a renewed Youth Action Plan (YAP) to guide how we support and engage with young people aged 10 to 25.

Over 800 young people shared their ideas during Phase One of consultation earlier this year.

From those insights, we’ve drafted key themes and actions that reflect what matters most to young people in Vincent.

Now we’re in Phase Two, and we’re inviting you, our young people, community members, stakeholders and partners, to review the draft and tell us if we’ve got it right.

Key themes

1. Place and belonging

  • Feel safe, welcome and connected
  • Youth-friendly spaces
  • Opportunities to hang out, be creative and feel they belong

2. Wellbeing and inclusion

  • Know what’s on and how to get involved in activities
  • Inclusive and accessible to all
  • Raise awareness of support options for wellbeing

3. Youth leadership and engagement

  • Able to have a say
  • Connect with young people through their channels
  • Recognise and value young people

4. Opportunity

  • Build life skills and explore interests
  • Create pathways into volunteering and employment
  • Support transition into adult life

A full list of what will be delivered for each of these themes is available to view in the Documents section.

Phase 1

Background

With our current Youth Action Plan 2020-2026 ending soon, we started to develop our plan for 2026 and beyond.

The 2020-2026 plan focused on four key areas:

  • support and opportunity
  • community and participation
  • wellbeing and resilience
  • organisational capacity

The Youth Action Plan 2026 and Beyond will consider emerging trends, youth feedback and social changes and will guide our approach to future strategies and actions for young people in Vincent.

Through our partnership with Youth Advisory Council WA (YACWA), young people with a connection to Vincent have been recruited as 'peer researchers' to support this consultation. They have helped develop the survey and will be collecting responses.

Project details

The Youth Action Plan 2026 and Beyond is about giving local young people opportunities to have their voice heard and actively participate in the Vincent community. It’s about making our City a better place for people aged 10-25 to live and visit.

We want to hear from as many young people as possible as we develop this plan, ensuring the youth perspective is part of our initiatives, projects, events and services.

We are also encouraging family members and caregivers to give their perspective by completing a survey.

Youth service providers and groups will be contacted directly.

This consultation closed Sunday, 25 May 2025.

What will happen next?

We’ll review your feedback and get to work on developing the new Youth Action Plan incorporating what you have told us.
