Background
We're seeking community feedback on a proposal to change the intersection of William Street and Forrest Street.
Between 2016 and 2020 the William Street and Forrest Street intersection has recorded a total of six crashes, with four requiring hospitalisation or medical treatment.
The Black Spot project aims to mitigate the severity of accidents at this intersection by installing a traffic island on the eastern leg of Forrest Street and providing an additional give way sign.
The project will be funded through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program, which aims to reduce crashes and save lives on Australian roads by funding works at high-risk locations.
Benefits:
Enhanced safety for pedestrians and motorists
Reduces speed, traffic volume and crash risks
Project details:
Install traffic island to reduce friction between opposing directions of traffic

What will happen next?
Following community consultation, feedback will be summarised and a recommendation presented to Council. Should Council endorse the proposal, a detailed design will be developed.
Everyone who provides feedback will be notified when the project is due to be considered by Council. Members of the public are welcome to attend the Council Briefing and Council Meeting to ask questions or comment on the project.
