Together with the City's Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group we have proposed amendments to our Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country Policy to ensure our organisation continues to strive for greater reconciliation and equality within our community.

The proposed amendments highlight the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and tradition and the important contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within our community.

Changes were made to adjust the word ‘Indigenous’ to ‘Aboriginal’ throughout the Policy, to include the flying of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags at significant events, and for Welcome to Country Ceremonies to be held at all significant events.

Protocols around Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country have been in place at the City of Vincent for many years and will be further enhanced through these policy changes.

We invite all members of the community to provide feedback on the proposed policy update via the survey below.
