City of Vincent waste team and vehicles doing a verge valet service collection

This consultation is now closed.

The City of Vincent's Verge Valet™ service for residential bulk waste is coming to the end of a two-and-a-half-year trial. The service is now being reviewed and we are seeking community feedback.

Background

The City of Vincent's Waste Strategy 2018 – 2023 has a vision of zero waste to landfill by 2028. Verge Valet™ Vincent aligns with this strategy by encouraging the diversion of waste from landfill.

In March 2021 Council approved an 18-month service trial of Western Metropolitan Regional Council’s pre-booked service Verge Valet™ Vincent, which started in February 2022, in place of the traditional scheduled bulk waste service collection system.

A further 12-month extension was approved by Council in March 2023, which is due to end 30 June 2024.

Project details

Verge Valet™ is a flexible collection service for residential bulk waste which residents can pre-book all year-round. It replaces the traditional set-date bulk waste collections previously offered by the City.

You can watch a short video about the Verge Valet™ service below.

The trial has now been running for two and a half years. During this time feedback from users of the service has been positive, with more than 80 per cent of the 200 surveyed giving it a five-star rating.

The service aims to reduce the amount of waste collected and increase recycling, and the trial is showing better outcomes than through the bulk verge collection system.

As the end of the trial period approaches, we want to understand whether the Verge Valet™ service is working well for residents and if they feel the service should become permanent.

Even if you haven't used it yet, please tell us why.
