Consultation has concluded
We are proposing to overhaul our policies around verges and street trees to make it easier for residents to create more active green and play spaces on their doorstep.
At the City of Vincent Council meeting on 29 May, new verge and street tree policies were proposed to reflect Council and community sentiment on the use of rope swings, tree decorations, edible gardens and native verges.
The new policy for street trees will allow residents to attach ladders, swings, cubbies and platforms to street trees, as well as decorations and lighting.
The new policy for verges will allow residents to install raised garden beds, seats, logs, rocks and various forms of paving on their verge.
The proposed policies have a self-assessment approach based on guidelines, so it won't be necessary to seek approval to improve your street tree or verge.
