Draft Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan
The City of Vincent has developed its fourth Reconciliation Action Plan and is seeking community feedback on the proposed deliverables.
Background
Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Aboriginal people, for the benefit of all Australians.
Vincent began its reconciliation journey in 2017 with a Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, followed by our first Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan in 2019. Our current Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan commenced in 2022.
The current Innovate RAP will continue through to the end of 2024 when it will transition to the new Stretch RAP in early 2025.
The draft Stretch RAP 2025 - 2027 was lodged with Reconciliation Australia in March 2024 for review and has received conditional endorsement.
At the meeting on 22 October 2024, Council approved the proposed 'Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan 2025-2027' deliverables for the purpose of community consultation.
In developing this plan, Vincent has consulted with Reconciliation Australia and our Boordiya (Boss) Reference Group, as well as the Internal Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, Executive team and staff. Now we are seeking broader community and key stakeholder feedback.
Project details
Vincent has built a strong reconciliation foundation through the implementation of the City’s previous three Reconciliation Action Plans.
Our fourth plan, the Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, reaffirms the City’s ongoing commitment to provide our staff, community, and stakeholders with an opportunity to engage, listen and connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
It is a public commitment to reconciliation and serves as a guide as to how we continue our journey.
The draft Stretch RAP 2025 - 2027 includes 106 deliverables (of which 59 are prescribed by Reconciliation Australia) and these are available to view in the Document library to the right of this page.
This consultation is an opportunity for the community to comment on the Stretch RAP deliverables, as well as share thoughts on acknowledging and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and protocols.
