Background
The City of Vincent is conducting a 12-month review of our Smoke-Free Town Centres initiative and is seeking feedback from our community.
The City of Vincent introduced Fresh Air - You're Welcome: the Smoke-Free Town Centres project in November 2022 as part of its Public Health Plan.
This project aims to reduce community exposure to environmental tobacco smoke and aerosol from e-cigarettes, therefore creating healthy environments, free from smoking and vaping in our entertainment precincts.
Twelve months ago, parts of North Perth, Mt Hawthorn, Leederville, William Street and Beaufort Street became smoke-free. We also ran multiple awareness campaigns.
This project is made possible by funding from a Healthway Healthy Communities Grant.
Project details
The City of Vincent is conducting a 12-month review of our Smoke-Free Town Centres initiative and is seeking feedback from our community.
Since surveying community and businesses in May 2023 (6-months into the project) we have continued our education and awareness activities with a focus on engagement with local businesses to support the transition to smoke-free town centres.
Education on the topic of vaping has also been delivered in local primary schools and to a collective of local youth service providers.
It's important we hear from local community and businesses about the impact of this project, as well as the levels of awareness of, and support for, the project.
Visit the City of Vincent website for more information about our Smoke-Free Town Centres.
