The City of Vincent is reviewing Policy No. 7.5.10 Sustainable Design and seeking community feedback.

Background

In August 2025 Council approved the review of Policy No. 7.5.10 Sustainable Design (renamed to Local Planning Policy: Sustainable Design) for the purpose of community consultation.

This policy will provide guidance on the planning and incorporation of sustainable principles of various developments within the City of Vincent, including:

  • residential development subject to the Residential Design Codes Volume 1
  • commercial development

It will adopt the Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles of Policy No. 7.1.1 Built Form which is also being reviewed.

As it will have a direct impact on how a site can be developed, it will be of interest to both community and developers.

Proposed amendments

The review of Policy No. 7.5.10 Sustainable Design proposes the following changes:

  • Improved ESD principles that are currently within Policy No. 7.1.1 Built Form.
  • Includes an assessment pathway on how ESD principles can be achieved.
  • Includes the existing GreenTrack development application pathway as an incentive for landowners seeking to include ESD initiatives and retain trees.
  • Outlines departures of built form standards that can be supported where they result in an improved ESD outcome. This includes departures to building heights, street setbacks, lot boundary setbacks and visual privacy.

You can view the draft policy in the Documents section to the right of this page.
