The play equipment at 26 Brentham Street, Leederville is set to be removed in early March following the Council's 2022 decision to repurpose the land.
Project Details
In March 2022, following consultation with the community, Council resolved to sell 26 Brentham Street, Leederville for the following reasons:
It has limited public access and is close to other major open spaces like Brentham Street Reserve and Britannia Reserve.
There’s more public open space than needed in this area.
Selling the land will help fund new public spaces in areas that don’t have enough parks, such as the Mt Hawthorn area near Brady Street, the Mitchell Freeway, and Green Street.
Proceeds from the sale will be placed in the Public Open Space (POS) Reserve and used to acquire new public open spaces in underserved areas and enable upgrades to the neighbouring playground in the Brentham Street Reserve.
The designs of the new play space will be determined through an engagement process with the community at a later date. We encourage residents to participate when the process begins.
In person at the City of Vincent Administration Building, 244 Vincent Street (corner Loftus Street), Leederville (during business hours)
In writing, by mail to PO Box 82, Leederville, 6902
Appointments are also available face-to-face, by phone or online
