Consultation has concluded

The City is proposing to name the laneway that is located between Shakespeare and Edinboro Streets in Mount Hawthorn.

The proposed name (Patterson Lane) is in commemoration of Dr Lisa Patterson was a resident and active member of Mount Hawthorn. She volunteered her time with a number of child-related community organisations, including the Mount Hawthorn Playgroup and Mount Hawthorn Primary School Parents and Citizens committee. Dr Patterson sadly passed in 2018 due to a rare and agressive form of cancer.

Dr Patterson's family are supportive of the naming proposal.

Patterson Lane satisfies Landgate’s criteria for a road name in that it:

  • is a single name element followed by a road type;
  • does not duplicate an existing road name within the local government area; and
  • the name is not used in an existing street or place in WA.

Patterson Lane does not satisfy the Landgate criteria in that it:

  • is more than six letters long.

This does not disqualify the name from being considered by Landgate after community approval.

Patterson Lane is considered pursuant to Criteria 2 of the City’s Road Naming Criteria – Vincent identities, including persons with historical connections to Vincent and a proven association with the area in which the naming proposal is located. This can include:

  • persons who have made a significant contribution to the area; and/or
  • persons who have made a significant contribution to the Vincent community.

More detail can be found in the Documents.

Where is the lane?

The lane identified for naming is located parallel to Shakespeare and Edinboro Streets in Mount Hawthorn.

The lane consists of Lot 309 on Plan 28284, Lot 201 on Plan 2790 and Lot 309 on Plan 28284 parallel to Shakespeare and Edinboro Streets in Mount Hawthorn.

About the process

This laneway proposal was submitted to the City of Vincent by a community member. If a consultation receives community support, the City will submit a road naming application to Landgate. Landgate will then approve or deny the application.
