Previous Consultation: Consultation for this application was undertaken earlier this year, from 13 March 2023 to 17 April 2023. Since then, the assessment of the application has progressed and amendments to the proposal have been made by the applicant.

The development is proposed at No. 554 Newcastle Street, West Perth. A location map of the subject site is provided below:

Summary of Proposal:

The proposal is to develop a seven-storey mixed use development on the site. The proposed development consists of:

  • A 202m2 ground floor commercial tenancy with mezzanine fronting Newcastle Street. This is intended to operate as an office;
  • 15 apartments located across the second to fifth floors, intended to be provided as ‘Specialist Disability Accommodation’;
  • Two carers rooms located on the second floor;
  • 14 car parking bays, including 10 bays with EV chargers, accessed via a rear access leg connecting to Cleaver Street. The carpark includes a 1:25 grade upwards from the entry to the commercial mezzanine.
  • Nine residential bicycle parking bays and two commercial bicycle parking bays.
  • Pedestrian access via Newcastle Street to the commercial tenancy and residential lobby;
  • Communal indoor and outdoor spaces on the top level; and
  • Various ground floor seating areas and landscaped areas adjacent to the western boundary.
