At it's 8 February 2022 Meeting, Council approved public notice of its intention to adopt one new policy and to amend two existing policies as detailed below.


New Policy - Temporary Employment or Appointment of CEO Policy

The City provides public notice of its intention to adopt a new Temporary Employment of CEO Policy.

Public notice of the proposed new policy was approved by Council at its 8 February 2022 meeting.

The purpose of this new policy is to set out the process in relation to the appointment of individuals to act in the position of the CEO for a term not exceeding one year.

Proposed Amendments to the Council Members Continuing Professional Development Policy

Public notice of the proposed amendments to the policy was approved by Council at its 8 February 2022 meeting.

The substantive changes to the policy are as follows:

  1. Inclusion of policy objective;
  2. Clause 1.1 has been added to reflect the City's existing Council Member Induction practice;
  3. Clause 1.3 has been added to highlight the importance of Council Capacity Building;
  4. Clauses 5 to 8 have been removed to reflect the custom and practice of Council Members professional development priorities; and
  5. Clause 10 (renumbered 6) of the policy has been broadened to require the inclusion of budget allocation in the Annual Budget

These Proposed Amendments to the Council Members- Allowances, Fees and Reimbursement of Expenses Policy

Public notice of the proposed amendments to the policy was approved by Council at its 8 February 2022 meeting.

The substantive changes to the policy are as follows:

  1. Inclusion of a third objective to facilitate the documentation of Council Member requirements;
  2. Removal of meeting fee attendance condition, now contained in the Council Member Code of Conduct;
  3. Inclusion clause 2.3 - Councillors Meeting Room, currently contained in the Civic Functions Policy;
  4. Clause 4 - Annual ICT Allowance has been updated to reflect the City's existing practices, no changes to the allowance amount has been proposed;
  5. Clause 5 has been updated to require submission of a reimbursement expenses claim from;
  6. Removal of Clause 7 - Training and Education, now contained in the Council Members Professional Development Policy; and
  7. New clause 10.5 requiring the Chief Executive Officer to maintain a register of Council Member reimbursements
