Monmouth Street Reserve Eco-zoning

The City of Vincent would like to know your thoughts about the upcoming eco-zoning project at Monmouth Street Reserve, Mount Lawley.

Background

At the OMC 23 March 2021, following community consultation on the future use of 10 Monmouth Street, Council approved this park to continue as public open space and noted that it is scheduled for eco-zoning in 2021/2022.

Eco-zoning is the conversion of underutilised turf areas into waterwise native gardens. Over time this not only saves water but also increases habitat and biodiversity within the City.

Consultation on the future use of Monmouth Street Reserve identified that the park is primarily used for dog exercise and passive recreation activities. Based on this feedback, the City has developed two proposals for eco-zoning within this park.

What’s proposed?

The report to Council on the future use of 10 Monmouth Street included a proposed eco-zoning plan – Option 1.

Based on feedback received from consultation, a second option has been developed – Option 2.

Both options have been developed in line with the City’s eco-zoning program and allocated budget for the project.

Next Steps

After the consultation period closes, City staff will summarise all feedback and present recommendations to Council. Everyone who provides feedback will be notified when the project is scheduled to be considered by Council. Members of the public are welcome to attend the Council Briefing and Council Meeting to ask questions or comment on the project.
