Update: Approval of Amendment No. 9

Following the conclusion of consultation, the City considered all comments and made a recommendation to Council to proceed with the proposed amendment at its October 2022 Council Meeting.

On 1 June 2023, the Local Planning Scheme No. 2 – Amendment No. 9 was approved by the Minister for Planning, as recommended by Council.

The approved amendment became effective as of its publication in the Government Gazette on 17 October 2023.

Amendment 9

At its Ordinary Meeting on 5 April 2022, Council decided to prepare an amendment to Local Planning Scheme No. 2 to rezone 21 Eucla Street, Mount Hawthorn from ‘Residential R30’ to ‘Commercial’. The Council meeting agenda can be found here.

On 4 July 2022, 21 Eucla Street, Mount Hawthorn was amalgamated with the lot to the north and now forms part of 257 Scarborough Beach Road, Mount Hawthorn. By rezoning the subject portion of the site to Commercial, the entirety of the lot will have a consistent zoning and density.
