The City of Vincent is committed to making its roads a safer place for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicle users. To deliver this commitment, we regularly consider new local area traffic management initiatives that look to solve ongoing issues and reduce the likelihood of traffic incidents in the future.

Vincent regularly seeks community feedback before implementing any of these proposals.

There are no Local Area Traffic Management projects currently open for consultation.

As a result of feedback in 2022 on a proposed traffic calming measure at the intersection of Britannia Road and Matlock Street in Mt Hawthorn, we've made some changes, and are now seeking further comment on the updated design proposal.

These changes primarily include safety features for cyclists and pedestrians, reflecting residents' concerns about vehicle speed along Britannia Road, as well as adding street trees to create improved visual appeal.

This consultation was closed on Friday 19 May 2023. There are currently no works planned.

The City of Vincent will revisit this intersection once Main Roads WA has completed the nearby roundabout works at the corner of Green Street, Brady Street and Scarborough Beach Road.

In 2022 the intersection of Green Street, Merredin Street and Tyler Street was identified as a State Black Spot project, which has significant road safety issues. Over the last five years, 19 accidents were reported, with five needing medical attention and one hospitalisation.

Due to lack of community support for the original concept, Black Spot funding was returned to Main Roads WA with the City of Vincent creating a revised design to treat the road safety issue. This new proposal specifically aims to address the number of incidents at this intersection.
