Consultation has concluded

Leederville Village Square opened May 2019. It’s transformed the space on Newcastle Street between Oxford and Carr Streets to a people-friendly shared space.

The Leederville Village Square was made by raising a section of Newcastle Street to footpath level. The result is a pedestrian-friendly space for cars, cyclists and people to share. The creation of the square also included:

  • The addition of two new street trees to provide more shade for alfresco dining; and
  • Installation of retractable bollards to allow for closure of Newcastle Street, between Oxford Street and Carr Place.

It’s a place where community groups, businesses and the City hold events, designed to engage the local community and encourage community participation. It’s the home of Squaresville, Eaterville, Footyville and the Arty Farty Christmas Party.

We want to check in with the community and see how Leederville Village Square is working for them. This will help the City of Vincent determine the future use of the space and identify opportunities for improvements.

The consultation will run from 24 November to 31 January 2023.
