The playground equipment currently at Hyde Park East

The City of Vincent is seeking community feedback on new concept designs for Hyde Park East Playground. Tell us which one you prefer!

Background

Constructed in 2009, the smaller playground on the corner of Glendower and William streets in the ever-popular Hyde Park needs a refresh.

In September and October 2024, we asked for feedback on the play elements people would like to see in a new playground at Hyde Park East.

Community told us they would prefer a ninja style course over a traditional playground layout. They prioritised climbing and balance elements and were keen for the playground to be suitable for a mix of ages

This project is part of the City's playground renewal program and is funded through the 2024/25 Capital Works Budget.

Project details

There are two design proposals, one is a more linear, ninja-style course (Option One) and one is a ropes-based course. (Option Two). You will find the equipment descriptions for each in the Document library to the right of this page. Please note, all proposed colour schemes are indicative only and final installation may differ.

Option One

Linear ninja course with 10 pieces of equipment positioned between start and finish signs.

Equipment focuses on climbing and balance and is suitable for mixed ages:

  • cargo net
  • rock wall
  • swing traverse
  • balance beam

Option Two

This striking design is a ‘ropes’ course with 10 features.

The equipment again focuses on climbing and balance and is suitable for mixed ages:

  • web tunnel
  • hoops
  • gym
  • web wall
  • rock wall
