Background
We're seeking community feedback on a proposal to change the intersection of Fitzgerald Street and Lawley Street.
Between 2016 and 2020 the Fitzgerald Street and Lawley Street intersection has recorded a total of 10 crashes, with two requiring hospitalisation or medical treatment.
The Black Spot project aims to mitigate the severity of accidents at this intersection by banning right turn movements from Lawley Street onto Fitzgerald Street by installing a half seagull island on Lawley Street and a narrow median island on Fitzgerald Street.
The project will be funded through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program, which aims to reduce crashes and save lives on Australian roads by funding works at high-risk locations.

What will happen next?
Following community consultation, feedback will be summarised and a recommendation presented to Council. Should Council endorse the proposal, a detailed design will be developed.
Everyone who provides feedback will be notified when the project is due to be considered by Council. Members of the public are welcome to attend the Council Briefing and Council Meeting to ask questions or comment on the project.
