Expressions of interest for Board Members have now re-opened.

The City of Vincent is seeking submissions from people interested in serving their community as Director of the Board of Management for Leederville Gardens Inc.

Background

Leederville Gardens Retirement Estate (the Village) is located at 37 Britannia Road, Leederville and is owned by Leederville Gardens Inc., a registered charity.

The village is a not-for-profit 67-unit independent living facility for people aged over 55 and is adjacent to Britannia Reserve in Leederville.

It is governed by a skills-based voluntary Board which is responsible for the strategic direction and major operational decisions.

The Board has appointed Village Solutions Australia to provide day to day management of the Village, under the strategic direction of the Board.

Opportunity

The Board of Management is the governing body for Leederville Gardens Inc and comprises three (3) City of Vincent appointed members and three (3) resident elected community members. The Chair of the Board is selected from the City-appointed members.

The role of the Board is detailed in the Leederville Gardens Constitution which is available to view in the document library to the right of this page.

Eligibility

We are looking for people who are interested in serving their community and providing effective and progressive management for this facility.

Ideally, you should have some board experience – but this is not essential. Drive and attitude are just as important, as are people who can complement, and add to, the skills and diversity of the Board.

Time Commitment

Board Members are appointed for a three (3) year term.

Generally, the commitment to the Board of Management is twelve (12) Meetings per year including the Association’s Annual General Meeting, and strategic planning workshops and special meetings from time to time.

Board Members are expected to have read all the relevant Board Papers leading up to each meeting and to actively contribute at meetings.

As a guide, meetings are generally held in the Clubrooms at the Village, commencing at 5:30pm.

Remuneration

Board membership is voluntary, with no remuneration, although director training opportunities are provided each year.

Qualifications

The Board is looking for a director who has skills and experience in the following areas:

  • asset management
  • finance / accounting
  • grant writing / fundraising
  • industry knowledge – retirement villages
  • not-for-profit organisations

Nomination Information

Expressions of Interest close 5pm Friday 21 June 2024.

What will happen next?

After the Expression of Interest period closes, your application will be considered by the City of Vincent and your candidacy may be presented to the Board of Management for its consideration.

If you are the recommended candidate, your name and a brief profile, based on the information you provide, will be disclosed to the City for endorsement.
