We have developed a draft Enhanced Environment Strategy 2025-2030 and a Sustainable Vincent Framework and are seeking community feedback.
Background
Over the last 12 years, the City of Vincent has developed strategies to guide sustainable decision-making and help us meet Federal and State Government environmental targets.
Our first-generation Sustainable Environment Strategy (SES) was adopted in 2011 and updated in 2019 with the current SES 2019-2024.
The next generation of documents will include a suite of three key sustainability documents. These include the:
- Sustainable Vincent Framework (SVF)
- Enhanced Environment Strategy (EES)
- Climate Transition Action Plan (CTAP) which will include the themes of net zero, energy and emissions, transport and a community risk assessment.
Prior to commencing drafting of the EES, we completed an initial consultation asking our community about their aspirations for a liveable and sustainable environment. A summary of the findings is available in the FAQ section to the right of this page.
At the May 2025 meeting, Council endorsed the draft EES for the purpose of community consultation.
Project details
Sustainable Vincent Framework (SVF)
The SVF is a corporate document ensuring sustainability is embedded across the organisation by clearly assigning roles and responsibilities to internal teams. It will sit alongside the City's Strategic Community Plan 2022-2032 to reflect its overarching importance.
You can view the draft SVF in the Documents section to the right of this page.
Enhanced Environment Strategy (EES)
The draft EES 2025-2030 aligns with the City's Strategic Community Plan 2022-2032 which places a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. The enhanced environment priority area states,
‘The natural environment contributes greatly to our inner-city community. We want to protect and enhance it, making best use of our natural resources for the benefit of current and future generations.’
Community and stakeholder feedback has also informed the development of the draft EES which sets out objectives and targets across three key environmental focus areas:
- water
- greening
- resource conservation and waste
Targets have been established for both City of Vincent operations and for the wider community, including residents and businesses. These include, but are not limited to, reducing water use, conserving resources and increasing tree canopy on both City and private land. See EES Summary of Objectives and Targets in the Documents section.
You can also view the draft EES in the Documents section.
