A mixture of playground equipment currently at Edinboro Reserve

The City of Vincent is seeking community feedback on new concept designs for Edinboro Street Reserve Playground. Tell us which one you prefer!

Background

Constructed in 2000, the Edinboro Street Reserve playground was well-loved, but is due for a refresh.

In September and October 2024, we asked for feedback on the play elements people would like to see in a new playground at Edinboro Street Reserve.

Community told us they wanted slides, swings, monkey bars and a climbing frame – and there was a lot of love for the existing sandpit with its trucks and tractors. They also liked the flying foxes, tunnels and bridges they’d seen at other playgrounds too.

Opinion was divided on shade sails, especially if it affected the amount of play equipment.

This project is part of the City's playground renewal program and is funded through the 2024/25 Capital Works Budget.

Project details

There are two design proposals, one without shade (Option One) and one with shade (Option Two). You will find the equipment descriptions for each in the Document library to the right of this page. Please note, all proposed colour palettes are indicative only and the final installation may differ.

Option One

The equipment colours and finishes of this design aim to complement the tree filled setting. A pathway creates two zones including a quieter swing area. The design covers the same footprint as the existing playground and has mulch and rubber softfall.

It is suitable for ages 0-12, has 32 activities and a capacity of 65+.

The main attraction is the dynamic ‘6m seated skyrail’ plus:

  • multiplay unit (low/medium/high levels) – climbing, slides, bridge etc.
  • bush story panel
  • kookaburra rocker
  • double swing
  • inclusive saucer

Option Two

Features premium timber equipment and proposes a ‘snowgum’ colour scheme. It has complete shade overhead and rubber and sand softfall. it is suitable for ages 0-12, has 24 activities and a capacity of 50+.

The main attraction is the full shade, plus:

  • Premium multiplay unit with ramped access for inclusivity, rope walls, stairs, straight slide and curved tube slide, sandworks table, bush panel.
  • Double bay swing with nest and strap seats.
