Background
Leederville Oval is a West Australian Football League (WAFL) ground that is located at 246 Vincent Street, Leederville. The ground is currently used as a home ground by two clubs: the East Perth Football Club and the Subiaco Football Club.
Over time, the facilities and surrounding areas have aged and are not keeping pace with increasing community expectations. The facilities are dated and now require significant resources to meet access and current building standards. The City of Vincent is committed to optimising the facility and have begun developing a master plan to guide future upgrades and improvements to the oval and associated facilities.
Understanding the economic benefit of having the football ground and the two WAFL clubs based at the oval is very important as the City continues to develop the masterplan. Leederville Oval is an iconic landmark within Leederville and the CBD and any refurbishments or redesign must be undertaken with due diligence and any design opportunities justified.
ACIL Allen are an economic modelling consultant and have been engaged by the City to assist in this process. They will combine broad economic data with localised income information from businesses and other sources to determine the economic benefit of football games and other events at the oval bring to the Leederville precinct and the City.
To help complete this work, ACIL Allen has developed a short survey for local businesses and the results of this survey will be used to form a series of assumptions regarding the local economic impact of the Oval.
Consultation for this project has now concluded.
