Docket Lane
The proposed name is Docket Lane in commemoration of the business, Docket Book Company (Australia), which was owned by the Judd family. The name appears to satisfy Landgate's naming standards.
Located at 498-502 Charles Street, North Perth, the Docket Book Company (Australia) was a printer and distributor of docket books for record keeping and receipt of sales. Operating under a number of names, including 'Commercial Press' and 'WA Docket Book Co.' Arnold Judd traded in the same location for over forty years (1932 - 1980s).
The City supports the name of Docket Land because it meets our criteria 3: Prominent Historic Vincent Business.
Docket Lane satisfies the Landgate criteria:
Is a single name element followed by a road type;
Does not duplicate an existing road name within the local government area;
The name is not used in an existing street or place in WA; and
No more than six letters long.
The applicant prepared research to support the proposal. These can be found in the Document Library.
Where is the lane?
The lane identified for naming runs north-south connecting Lawler and Union Streets in North Perth. Surrounded by Charles, Doris, Clieveden and Selkirk Streets, the lane is known as Part of Lot 205 on Plan 28281, the Whole of Lot 6 on Plan 2630 and the Whole of Lot 88 on Plan 2600. The City invites you to share your thoughts on the proposal.
The laneway is currently unnamed.
