Eco-zoning is the conversion of under used turf areas into water-wise native gardens. Over time, this not only saves water but also increases habitat and biodiversity.
The intersection of Bulwer and Vincent streets is a busy inner-city area.
The City of Vincent has created a plan for eco-zoning at this intersection and would like to hear suggestions from the community about plant selection and features that could be included in the upcoming works.
Project Details
We've created a plan to replace the existing turf area with water-wise, native shrubs and trees, mulch and feature logs.
The project will take roughly one full week to complete and will include:
a bobcat keying out the edges
spreading a layer of mulch
laying of feature logs
planting of water-wise native plants and trees
Benefits
Once completed, the project will create an aesthetically appealing and water-wise garden area at a busy inner-city intersection. It will also eliminate the need for irrigation and instead be watered with a water truck when necessary.
The project aligns with the City's Greening Plan to increase tree canopy cover.
