What are we doing?

The Brookman and Moir Streets area is a place of special significance. It is made up of two streets in Perth comprising 58 semi-detached residences and one detached residence in two variants of the Federation Queen Anne style. The dwellings were constructed of limestone and brick with corrugated iron roofs in 1897‑98, during the Western Australian Gold Boom period for the Colonial Finance Corporation.

The design guidelines were prepared to protect and enhance this group of heritage listed properties.

The current design guidelines need to be reviewed and reformed so that they can be clearly implemented to deliver the objectives.

What do we need?

The purpose of this consultation is to understand the community sentiment regarding the conservation of the dwellings and also to understand the most important elements of the streetscape.

You can access the current design guidelines here.

Next Steps

We will be on the corner of Moir Street and Forbes Road from 4:45pm – 5:30pm on Tuesday 24th May 2022 to discuss the guidelines and hear your thoughts.

Following this consultation period Administration will report the outcomes of the consultation to Council along with draft amended design guidelines or heritage area guidelines based on the comments received. Council will be asked to endorse the guidelines, comments (including Administrations response to the comments) for the purpose of advertising the draft design guidelines - At this time you will have another opportunity to comment.
