Brady Street and Tasman Street State Black Spot Project
Background
We're seeking community feedback on a proposal to upgrade the intersection at Brady Street and Tasman Street.
These proposed updates were originally consulted on in March and April 2023, with community feedback showing the majority were in favour of the works.
There was an error in the information outlined in the letters sent to residents at that time, so we are now looking to confirm that this favourable result is still representative of community attitudes.
Over a five-year period until December 2021 the Tasman Street and Brady Street intersection has recorded a total of seven crashes, with two requiring hospitalisation or medical treatment.
The purpose of this Black Spot project is to try and mitigate the severity of accidents at the intersection. This will be done through the installation of two median traffic islands, which will be on Tasman Street at the Brady Street approaches.
This design will require the current road widths to be widened and will also involve installing additional stop signs.
The project will be funded through the Australian Government’s State Black Spot Program, which aims to reduce crashes and save lives on Australian roads by funding works at high-risk locations.

The City of Vincent is seeking your feedback on the proposed installation of two median islands and the slight widening of Tasman Street at the intersection of Brady and Tasman Streets. The aim of this update is to reduce the crashes associated with exiting and entering Tasman Street. Additional stop signage will also help to address this.

What will happen next?
Following community consultation, feedback will be summarised and if community feedback is not supportive, recommendation by administration will be presented to Council. If the community feedback is supportive, the project will continue as designed into the delivery phase.
Everyone who provides feedback will be notified if the project is due to be considered by Council. Members of the public are welcome to attend the Council Briefing and Council Meeting to ask questions or comment on the project.
