Update

The City of Vincent has written a new Planning Framework for Beaufort Street Town Centre (BSTCPF) and is seeking community feedback.

Extensive consultation has contributed to the development of the draft framework including feedback from community, stakeholders and industry. An Engagement Report detailing the consultation workshops, surveys, 'walkshop' activities and outcomes is available to view in the Documents library to the right of this page.

We'd now like to know whether you think we've got the draft Planning Framework right and welcome any further comments you may have. The draft Planning Framework is also available to view in the Documents library and below is a survey where you can provide feedback.

If you provide your contact details when completing the survey, you will be notified when the final Planning Framework is considered by Council. Anyone is welcome to attend the Council Briefing and Council Meeting to ask questions or comment on the proposal.

Alternatively, you can reach out directly to the Planners listed in the Who’s Listening section to the right of this page.

We’re also inviting community members to meet with project officers for a casual conversation over a coffee about the draft Framework on the following dates:

  • Saturday 22 February | 8am – 12pm | Mary Street Piazza, Beaufort Street - completed
  • Tuesday 25 February | 8am – 12pm | Modus Coffee, Beaufort Street - completed
  • Sunday 9 March | 8am – 12pm | Mary Street Piazza, Beaufort Street
  • Saturday 15 March | 8am – 12pm | Mary Street Piazza, Beaufort Street

Background

The Planning Framework will guide future development by introducing planning controls and place planning actions to support the community’s vision.

It will consider specific elements from the design of open spaces in the public realm, through to the scale and design of buildings in the private realm.

The framework for Beaufort Street is for the town centre from Walcott Street at the ‘top’ to St Albans at the ‘bottom’.

It is home to a diverse mix of businesses, supported by a strong sense of place and unique, thriving hospitality scene.

Its established character and brand, synonymous as a premier hospitality centre, contribute to its distinct sense of identity.

The framework will consider each of the priorities listed in the Strategic Community Plan but is not limited by that.

A context analysis study has already taken place to help us understand the existing conditions, opportunities and constraints.
