The City of Vincent is reviewing and consolidating three of its existing policies into a single Art Collection Policy and is seeking community feedback on the proposed draft.

Background

The City of Vincent currently has three existing policies:

These policies have been reviewed and consolidated into the draft Art Collection Policy.

The consolidation of these policies responds to feedback from the Arts Advisory Group and aims to simplify processes, enhance transparency and promote contemporary art practices, in line with the City’s Arts Plan 2023-2028.

In April 2025 Council approved the draft Art Collection Policy for the purpose of community consultation.

Proposed amendments

Integrating these three policies into a single streamlined Art Collection Policy simplifies Vincent's arts policy framework.

The Policy will guide how art is commissioned, acquired, managed and displayed.

Key aims include to enhance community engagement with the arts by:

  • Improving the public accessibility and visibility of the City's art collection.
  • Addressing any gaps identified by the Arts Advisory Group
  • Responding to community's desire for more contemporary and diverse artworks.
  • Improving transparency in the management of public art by introducing an online register.
  • Shifting detailed procedural guidelines to separate supporting documents.

A copy of the proposed policy is available to view in Documents to the right of this page.
