On 29 April 2019, the City of Vincent commenced trial to research the effects of 40km/h speeds on residential roads in Vincent's southern suburban areas.
In 2022, Vincent consulted residents on how they felt about the trial and what effect this has had on the use of the residential streets for more recreational uses, as well as any perceived effects on speed, traffic and safety in their local area.
A community survey showed 57 per cent of respondents supported the reduction of the speed limit to 40km/h in residential streets.
Vincent and the Road Safety Commission collected crash records, traffic data and other measurements that will be considered as part of the trial evaluation.
At its 14 February 2023 meeting, Council voted to seek Main Roads WA approval to make the 40km/h speed limit permanent on all local roads across Vincent.
Based on a request of residents, Vincent will consult property owners and occupiers on Vincent Street, between William and Beaufort streets, to see if they support that section of their street being included in the 40km/h zone.
You can find out more about the previous phases of the project here.
